Short-lived action/adventure series for kids, very much riding on the popularity of the equally bad Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but adding a virtual reality twist. As with its stablemate, the newly-filmed footage was padded out with action sequences from various Japanese series.

ARMED WITH SPECIAL POWERS THAT ENABLE THEM TO TRAVEL IN AND OUT OF VIRTUAL REALITY, RYAN, KAITLIN AND J.B., THREE TEENAGE MARTIAL ARTS EXPERTS, ARE HERE TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM THE EVIL GRIMLORD!

Grimlord plants a spy in the real world, an investigative reporter named Jeremy who is really a mutant robot. Kaitlin, J.B. and Ryan welcome Jeremy into their lives when he helps them in a skug battle. His robotic nature allows Jeremy to outperform the three teenagers in martial arts, computing and reporting. When Jeremy is assigned to investigate the V.R. Troopers, Kaitlin gets suspicious. They discover that he is a virtual being — but it's too late. Using the computer, Jeremy traps J.B. and Kaitlin in the lab and rigs the portal to send Ryan to a hidden virtual combat zone. The three teenage friends must use all their skills to escape from Grimlord's spy before Grimlord crosses the barrier from the virtual world into the real world.

With a cry of "Trooper transform!" the V.R Troopers call upon their martial arts skills and the powers of their pendants to save both the real and the virtual worlds.

Grimlord decides that he will set the V.R. Troopers against each other to make them destroy themselves. He sends a virtual reality skug disguised as a martial arts student to the dojo. The student sends an electrical charge through J.B. and Kaitlin which alters their personalities — for the worse. Soon Kaitlin and J.B. are fighting with Ryan — and everyone else. Kaitlin and J.B. set up Ryan in the virtual world and attack him from the Mothership. Meanwhile, Kaitlin's cousin Betsy, a wannabe reporter, exposes an environmental pollution plot and gets in trouble with Grimlord's mutants. With Jeb's help, Ryan must find a way to reverse Grimlord's spell. And Ryan must do this before Grimlord's striking force and the Polar Droid end it all.

With a cry of "Trooper transform!" the V.R Troopers call upon their martial arts skills and the powers of their pendants to save both the real and the virtual worlds.
