The last of Irwin Allen's 1960s sci-fi series,
Land of the Giants showed the passengers and crew of the
Spindrift on a routine transatlantic flight, and their subsequent crossing into another world or dimension where they were only six inches high.
As might be expected from an Irwin Allen series, it's not particularly serious, but it does manage to avoid the comic excesses that dragged down the final year of
Lost in Space.
The format was revived in the UK during the early years of the 21st century in a TV advert for the
Volkswagen Polo.
