Fantasy series set in the times when the Greek gods were still on the scene and mythical monsters needed fighting by improbably-muscled heroes like Hercules. All done with a minimum of clothing (for the female characters), American accents all round and plenty of fisticuffs.

A spin-off series in the form of Xena: Warrior Princess launched in 1995.

Hercules possessed a strength the world had never seen, a strength surpassed only by the power of his heart. He journeyed the Earth, battling the minions of his wicked stepmother, Hera, the all-powerful Queen of the Gods. Wherever there was evil, wherever an innocent would suffer, there would be Hercules, the greatest hero of all time.

Hercules and his comrade-in-arms, Iolaus, heed the desperate plea of a small village. A deadly monster has been terrorizing the townsfolk, and only the great strength of Hercules can save them.

But the duo is in for a deadly shock, for as powerful as the sea serpent is, something far greater waits in its shadow. An old enemy of Hercules who wants him dead...once and for all!

Mercantilius and Pastoralis were two towns on the verge of all-out war. When Hercules wanders into their little disagreement, he's shocked to learn that he's already been there. And he's betrayed them all!

There is only one possibility — someone is posing as Hercules. The real son of Zeus has a feeling that same someone is playing the citizens of Mercantilius and Pastoralis against each other — for a much more sinister purpose. Someone with superhuman powers of trickery and deception. A certain cloven-hoofed god with a bad attitude...
