As might be guessed from the title above, this was an updated version of the Tomorrow People series which had run on ITV between 1973 and 1979.

The series kicked off with a story that again introduced the idea of a new breed of teenagers who were telepathic, could teleport from place to place and were completely unable to kill, even in self defence. One major difference from the original series is the site of their base of operations. While the 1970s series was content to have it set in an abandoned part of the London Underground, the newly updated version uses an abandoned spaceship on a South Pacific island which had been left behind in readiness for the emergence of telepaths on Earth.

Original series creator Roger Price penned the re-launch story, and to ensure a higher budget the series also saw money coming in from the US with the help of the Nickelodeon children's channel. Unsurprisingly, the foreign money also meant that the Tomorrow People would have a more diverse range of nationalities with only Kevin coming from the UK. Of the other Tomorrow People, Adam was Australian and Lisa and Megabyte both came from the US.

Of the four leads, Kristian Schmid who played Adam was easily the most high profile, having recently left the role of Todd Landers in the hugely popular Australian soap-opera Neighbours.

Season Two, which comprised two five-part stories, saw Grant Cathro and Lee Pressman taking over the writing chores, and Lisa also made way for Ami, played by Naomie Harris. The casting of the guest stars also saw a slight change as some highly recognisable names were drafted in including Jean Marsh, Connie Booth, Christopher Benjamin and Peggy Mount. The third and final season was much like the previous one, although Kevin was now absent. Once again the guest casts were impressive and featured the likes of Christopher Lee, Elizabeth Spriggs, Patricia Hayes, Clive Merrison and Danny John-Jules.

Sadly this was to be last season of the revived Tomorrow People, and the series hasn't been seen in the UK since the broadcast of the final episode in March 1995.

A butchered video compilation of the opening story was released during the 1990s, with a DVD box set containing all five stories from the series being released in 2005.
