- The Time Capsule was released at the same time as The Ghost House, the third title in the series of original Sarah Jane Adventures audio books. As with the two releases in November 2007, both titles were narrated by Elisabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane Smith in the television series.
- Although a familiar name to readers of the Doctor Who and Torchwood novels, The Time Capsule is the first piece of work for The Sarah Jane Adventures to be written by Peter Anghelides. His most recent publication prior to the release of The Time Capsule was Torchwood: Pack Animals, published by BBC Books in October 2008
