General Notes
- Last Human was the third of four Red Dwarf novels to be released, all of which re-worked ideas from the TV series to a greater or lesser extent, and often in ways that completely contradicted the events on screen.
By the time Last Human was written, the Grant and Naylor writing partnership had broken up and they had gone their seperate ways, resulting in them both writing their own Red Dwarf novels completely independently. However, in a rather bizarre twist, both writers chose to have their books carry on the story from the end of the second novel, Better Than Life...
The final two seasons of the television series, in 1997 and 1999, were primarily written by Doug Naylor, with occasional help from other writers new to the series. - The original script to Psirens was published in Primordial Soup.
