- Robot was the first story to feature the character of Harry Sullivan, who would remain in the series through to the end of Terror of the Zygons the following season.
- Terrance Dicks' scripts to Robot were published by BBC Books in November 2001 as part of Doctor Who: The Scripts — Tom Baker 1974/5, which contained the scripts to all five stories from Season 12 as well as extensive background notes.

Notes
- Bizarrely, Target Books decided in the late 1970s that a series of Doctor Who novelisations aimed at a younger audience might be a good idea and commissioned Terrance Dicks to produce a a more basic novelisation of his own scripts. In retrospect, the fact that many of the regular Target readers were relatively young when they started reading the regular novelisations might explain why Junior Doctor Who and the Brain of Morbius was the second and final title to be published.

Notes
- The Ark in Space was the first of Ian Marter's nine Doctor Who novelisations to published, and the first to be written by one of the actors from the television series — he had played the part of Harry Sullivan in six stories between Robot and Terror of the Zygons, after having previously appeared as Andrews in the Third Doctor tale Carnival of Monsters.
- Rather famously, or at least among readers of the Doctor Who novelisations, Ian Marter re-wrote the ending of The Ark in Space so that the Doctor, Sarah and Harry could leave aboard the TARDIS, rather than having to down to Earth by means of a matter transmitter as in the original script. Rather an unfortunate thing to do as, at the end of following story, The Sontaran Experiment, the characters use the matter transmitter to return to the TARDIS on the Ark, at which point they get diverted to Skaro by the Time Lords for Genesis of the Daleks...
- Robert Holmes' scripts to The Ark in Space were published by BBC Books in November 2001 as part of Doctor Who: The Scripts — Tom Baker 1974/5, which contained the scripts to all five stories from Season 12 as well as extensive background notes.

Landing on the Earth, now a barren, desolate planet, Sarah, Harry and the Doctor are unaware of the large, watching robot. The robot is the work of Styre,a Sontaran warrior, who uses all humans landing here for his experimental programmes.
What has happened to the other space explorers who have come here? Why is the Sontaran scout so interested in Earth and in brutally torturing humans, including Sarah Jane? Will the Doctor be able to prevent an invasion and certain disaster, and save both Earth and his companions?

Notes
- The start to Ian Marter's novelisation of The Sontaran Experiment is slightly different to the television version as the author had accidentally caused a monumental continuity cock-up when he had earlier novelised The Ark in Space.
In order to put things back on track, and ensure that the story would lead in to Genesis of the Daleks as originally scripted, the TARDIS landed inside the matter transmitter on Earth and, after everyone had disembarked, was promptly returned to the Ark leaving the Doctor, Sarah and Harry temporarily stranded. - Bob Baker and Dave Martin's scripts to The Sontaran Experiment were published by BBC Books in November 2001 as part of Doctor Who: The Scripts — Tom Baker 1974/5, which contained the scripts to all five stories from Season 12 as well as extensive background notes.

DALEKS
Doctor Who is given the chance of his lifetime, the incredible chance to eliminate his most deadly enemy, the Daleks. Sent to Skaro, the home of their creation, at a point in time just before their existence, Doctor Who's sole mission is to prevent the Daleks' birth — or at the very least, alter their genetic development.
DALEKS
But the time Lords and Doctor Who have not anticipated the single-minded obsession of the brilliant scientist Davros — a man determined to give his invention, the Daleks, destructive powers and a ruthless intelligence, a man determined to destroy. And least of all did they expect the baby Daleks to turn on their inventor... on the entire city... and prematurely on Doctor Who.

Notes
- Revenge of the Cybermen was the final work on Doctor Who by Gerry Davis, who had been writing for the series since the mid-1960s, as well as spending a period as the series' story editor.
- Apart from a brief glimpse in the Third Doctor story Carnival of Monsters, this was the first appearance of the Cybermen in Doctor Who since 1968 when they had appeared in the epic eight-part story The Invasion. Less notable was the introduction of yet another weakness in Doctor Who's second most popular monsters: gold. The ultimate extreme of this rather bizarre flaw in their design would occur in 1988's Silver Nemesis when the character of Ace was able to kill them by firing gold coins at their chest units with a catapult...
- Gerry Davis's scripts to Revenge of the Cybermen were published by BBC Books in November 2001 as part of Doctor Who: The Scripts — Tom Baker 1974/5, which contained the scripts to all five stories from Season 12 as well as extensive background notes.
