General Notes
- Count Dracula was a BBC production of the genre classic by Bram Stoker, with Louis Jordan playing the lead role. It was the second such television adaptation in the UK — the first having been produced in 1968 for the final black and white season of ITV's Mystery and Imagination supernatural anthology series. More recently, Marc Warren played the lead role in BBC One's Christmas 2006 production, which strayed considerably from the original source material.
- The production of Count Dracula famously saw the cancellation of a vampire-themed story for Doctor Who, which, it was feared, would be seen to be sending up BBC2's more prestigious production. In the event, Terrance Dicks' story would eventually be produced as State of Decay, broadcast as part of Season 18 in 1980.
- The original Dracula novel by Bram Stoker is freely available on the Internet, as well as Dracula's Guest, a short story that originally formed a prologue to the novel. Why Gerald Savory felt a novelisation could tell the story better than the original novel, however, is one of the world's great mysteries...
