Phoenix Festivals, are planning a MAJOR festival with one major charity beneficiary.

It must serve a real & urgent need. Has to stand against criticism that "there are much more urgent & worthy causes).

It must become self sustaining in one major aspect within 2 years. Plus continuing to expand and evolve to total self-sustainment within 5 years, either trading & supply locally, or through fair trade / services export.

It must be free from governmental bureaucratic penalization and initial profits to remain with the producers. Fair Trade rules & Regulations must be adhered to.

Direct identification with benefiting groups / families / organizations. The U.K. public & businesses supporting this self help benefit must be able to see what direct benefits the recipients are gaining.

Though we may move to other courses after each project, we continue to support all original self help enterprises in what ever way may evolve. Our project are not designed as "one of" programmes, but to kick start & support sustainable enterprises.

We have only one "criteria" required any group or project that we may select. We will help you all we can PROVIDED THAT YOU ARE PREPARED TO HELP YOURSELVES. The Phoenix Festivals Charity Events are designed solely as "help you to help yourselves" programmes that work with people who are prepared to work themselves.

We are spending a great deal of time & thought with this project as to who will be our 2nd  beneficiary (after our Tabanan School Project in Bali). 

This is YOUR FESTIVAL, and we appreciate your input, so please contact us with your views, and your experiences if you’ve been involved in similar projects or organizations. Projects suggested so far are…

A village (area) in Africa. Similar in India.  An Ecological Project in the U.K. & A youth theatrical U.K. tour ???.                                                                                  J.P.

Marcella Forster's new film "The Lamb & Flag" is now shot and in production, & it was great working again with a professional team. Everyone quietly wandering around knowing what their particular job is & being good at it. Reminded me of my time years ago working with Central Television.

 Few realize the work involved in putting this show on, which this years, the 29th is but 1 years short of 3 decades. Described a number of times by some of the famous artistes who work at venues around the World as "The best show in the World".  I have been mates with Chris & Bev since before Americana was thought of & have been to most of those 29.  Produced with love & care, many of their family are now involved & it can be called from both their end & the audience...A Real Family Show". A FEW PICS FROM 2009.

The show is a huge financial risk EVERY TIME and last years wet weather suffered severely, to the point that had this year not been an outstanding success due to good weather for Saturday & Sunday, after a rain soaked Friday . Next year is the 30th year & plans are already well ahead of schedule.

A memorable scene for me...     Moon over the Main Stage on the Saturday Night. "Asleep at the Wheel" on stage.

As always, the music was outstanding, my own particular favourites (that I heard as it's impossible to be at more than one of the 5 stages) Hank Wangford & the Lost Cowboys, The Manfreds, Asleep at the Wheel, Trading with the Natives, The Darts, and I could not believe my ears when I heard Jerry Richards & The Evening Shadows. (I have been greatly influenced by Hank Marvin & the Shadows since I first saw them at The London palladium at Christmas 1960. I spent an hour talking with hank some years later & we reminisced that gig which it turns out was a turning point for us both though for different reasons. I've been around a bit &  have heard a great many people try to imitate the Shadows unsuccessfully. Until Now).

Actors & Associated Services....

We've  worked out a contract with the University of Lincoln and the actors on our Actors Register. It benefits both parties, and makes clear what each offer and expect in return. It is a big improvement on the last few years, with both sides feeling let down on occasion for varying reasons.
