Computer Games:  Crown of Glory - Emperor’s Edition Released

Matrix Games and Western Civilization Software have announced that Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Crown of Glory, is now available. The Emperor’s Edition is a step up from the original Crown of Glory in nearly every area, with new detailed naval combat, a streamlined economic system, a stronger AI, improved strategic map, new scenarios and significant interface improvements.  Visit the game’s webpages at Matrix to find out more.

Computer Games:  New Jutland Demo

Storm Eagle Studios have released a 2nd Trial Edition of their 3D WW1 naval wargame Jutland (Ver. 1.022). It includes many updates and improvements to the Registration and Activation process. The new demo can be downloaded from the Storm Eagles website.

Computer Games:  World War One Updated

AGEOD have released a major update for their WW1 grand strategy title World War One: The Great War 1914-1918.  It includes over 50 tweaks and fixes - including some major stability improvements. The update can be downloaded from the game’s webpages at Matrix Games.

Podcasts:  Noisemaker Episode 11

Bert has released his 11th podcast (mp3 format). In this show, he looks at a range of miniatures wargaming subjects, including a couple of Fantasy Flight Games:  Runebound and Twilight Imperium.  You can download his podcasts from here.

Computer Games:  Battle Group Commander: Episode One

Publisher Shrapnel Games and developer ProSIM Company have announced the launch of a brand new episodic series of modern warfare simulations for the PC entitled Battle Group Commander.  The first mini game, Battle Group Commander: Episode One, is designed by Gary Bezant, a former member of the British Army and designer of the ProSIM title, The Falklands War: 1982 - also published by Shrapnel Games. Episode One allows players to act as a Battle Group Commander in a fight between British forces and a Soviet-style enemy on Salisbury Plain.  Visit the game’s webpage at Shrapnel to find out more.

Board Games: Strategy & Tactics Issue 255

Decision Games have released Strategy & Tactics #255 featuring the game The First Battle of Britain: The Air War Over England, 1917-18, which covers the German bomber and zeppelin offensive against England in WW1.  Further details are available on the Strategy & Tactics magazine website.

Lock n’ Load Publishing has released World at War: Blood and Bridges - the latest complete game in the World at War series of Cold War platoon-level games. Computer Games:  World War One Review

The Armchair General website has published a review of World War One: The Great War 1914-1918.  The reviewer (Larry Levandowski) summed up his thoughts as follows: “Passed Inspection: Captures the sweep and scale of WWI.  Failed Basic: Poor documentation, interface issues, occasional freezes and CTD.” You can read his review here.
