Past Winners Traditionally the winning member takes on the green jacket and joins the committee to organise the next championship. The first winner of the Hare & Hounds open was local businessman Geoff Rowe who has won it twice since. The late John McNeil enjoyed his day as the championship winner much to the delight of all players in the sodiety. Friendly rivalry between Geoff the and the Auturn, 2006 winner Duncan Clarke still goes on but what Geoff has struggled to take on the chin was Kevin Evans taking the last championship jacket, Kevin is Geoff's brother-in-law. By far the most applauded win was of course Steve Byrne who became the first player to win the Paul Byrne Memorial Trophy. Steve won the game playing with just one golf ball, his brother's who sadly died in 2006 after a fall while working in Germany.
