Standing:
Mr. Grieveson’s career in accident investigation began in 1980 when he became a full time member of a police accident investigation unit. He quickly gained basic and advanced accident investigation training to City & Guilds standard and was a fully active member of the unit.
Whilst serving in the accident investigation unit, for a period of 10 years, he dealt with all aspects of transport related matters, which encompassed numerous fatal, serious and emergency service vehicle accidents, and driver / vehicle offences. Throughout this period he gained experience in attended Coroner, Crown and Magistrate Courts.
A
longstanding interest in mechanical matters resulted in further City &
Guilds qualifications in vehicle examination and numerous diplomas in vehicle
examination encompassing detailed knowledge of tyres, brakes (air &
hydraulic), vehicle construction and usage, tachographs etc.
He gained the Institute of Road Transport Engineers Certificate, whilst studying at college following a successful examination and qualified with a certificate of professional competence to a transport manager level.
His interest in driving resulted in advanced driving certificates for motorcycles and cars and HGV class 1 and PCV licences, which are current.
Following his retirement from the police force in 1990 he formed ‘Grieveson Partners' an accident investigation and reconstruction practice and quickly gained a variety of customers, becoming the area representative for a large insurance company covering the north of England. His duties consisted of a wide range of Accident Investigation, Insurance and Litigation matters.
Being an expert in accident investigation resulted in the undertaking of legal defense work for major national solicitors practices in relation to the most serious of driver offences, which he continues to date.
He has been a Member of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators for a considerable time and has maintained his knowledge over this period.
He is a
checked Expert Witness with The Law Society and has been listed in The Law
Society’s Directory of Expert Witnesses for several years.
