Team Galas

The team lists for events in the different leagues (Deva, Speedo, Peak & Plain etc.) are put up on the Notice board at Macclesfield as far in advance of the Gala as the Coach can give.  Check the Notice board regularly for the team lists to see if you are in the team or a reserve.  Having checked the board and seen your name it is important that you do something about it. Having been selected for a team you are expected to swim.  Please tick your name on the team sheet, if for some good reason you cannot compete tell the coach as soon as possible in order to give time for a reserve to be notified.

When the club competes in team galas transport is often provided, although subsidised, there is a charge which will be notified in advance.  The details of coach pick up times will be on the team sheet.  All swimmers are expected to travel by coach unless it is otherwise agreed with the swimming coach or team manager beforehand.  This is done so that all team members can be together to build team spirit and receive any special team instructions.  Parents and other supporters are encouraged to travel, subject to space on the coach.

Entry forms for Individual Championships

PLEASE NOTE THAT GALAS WHICH THE CLUB ARE SUPPORTING AND FOR WHICH A SATELLITE COACH WILL BE PRESENT ARE ADVERTISED ON THE NOTICE BOARD.  COACHES WILL ALSO ADVISE SWIMMERS ON WHICH GALAS ARE SUITABLE FOR THEIR ABILITY.

The Club has its own entry forms on which entries for Club, District, County Championships and many Open Meets are made.  Entries for ‘non-Club supported’ galas and National Championships are made on forms specifically supplied by the Gala organisers.  For supported galas obtain an entry form from the desk and fill in the details required on the form, in particular the event number, event and your personal best time for each event that you enter.  In some cases your times will need to be ‘converted’ to length of the pool in which the gala will be held.  This is done by using the ASA “Equivalent Performance Tables” - these are available from the ASA or you can usually find a coach or other Club member will help!  Entries must be handed in to the desk before the closing deadline together with the entry fee and an administration fee.  This fee covers the Club costs in submitting your entry and also subsidises the Coach’s expenses.  Prior to Gala your entry cards will be available for collection at the desk, or the Gala organiser.  You should receive one card for each event you have entered.  Please check the details on each card and ensure they are correct, if not report it to the Gala organiser as soon as possible.
