Individual success for Satellite Swimmers

This weekend the first 5 sessions of the 2007 Cheshire Water Polo and Amateur Swimming Association’s County Championships took place at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.  Satellite swimmers Katie Bennett and Sam Barratt achieved the National Age Group qualifying times in two events each.  Katie, competing in the 11 year old age group, swam the 200m backstroke in 2mins 38.68 seconds in finishing 2nd on Saturday, compared to the qualifying time of 2:39.22 with Sam, competing in the 13 year old age group, swimming 2:25.22 in the 200m butterfly.

This swim was under the qualifying time of 2:26.50 and also made him the 2007 County Champion for the event.  On Sunday the same  swimmers then achieved further qualifying times with Sam ducking under the 400m freestyle time by 0.07 seconds with a time of 4:31.57 and Katie swimming 5:43.38 for the 400 individual medley, 2.11 seconds inside the time.  Sam finished 3rd in the 13 boys with his swim with Katie winning the girls to become the 2007 County Champion for the 400 IM.  Congratulations to both swimmers.
