Club Championships

Always a welcome start to the New Year. This year we are running the event in the evenings of Saturday 7th January and Wednesday 11th .  The longer 2OO metre races will take place on the Wednesday. Normal training will be suspended that evening in favour of the event which we hope will be an occasion with the blocks and timing equipment in place. It is hoped that the younger members who would normally train that evening will also participate.

Swim Shop

Peter Kinsey has agreed to operate a swim shop during the Club Championships on Saturday 7th January. It will be located in the vending area.

Looking to the future, we are hoping to invite Peter to run a swim shop on a more regular basis maybe bi-monthly depending on demand in order that up-to-date products can be purchased on site. Satellite branded products will continue to be available from the desk.

Speedo Gala results 10th December

Satellites finished second in the group maintaining their position in Division 1. The points from the final gala in Horwich were, Southport 228, Satellites 199, Wigan 175, Chorley 167, Crewe 155 and Alsager 123. It was an exciting evening with some exceptional wins and some nail bitingly close finishes.

Sponsored Swim

Approximately 27 swimmers took part in this event which Hugh organised. Unfortunately at the last minute the leisure centre changed the arrangements and we were unable to have the pool until 6pm so apologies to anyone who should have swum but could not hang around.

There were some amazing distances covered, Emily Cotterill completed the most lengths notching up 173 in an hour.

Eleanor Barratt presently in the transition group managed 90 lengths which far exceeded her target of 60 and Sam Rodger from the teaching classes achieved an outstanding 64 lengths two other boys from the teaching classes put in a fantastic effort. A big thanks to all of you who took part and keep your eye on the notice board for the winners of the PSP and ipod which are to be awarded to the swimmers who raised the most.

To round the event and year off nicely, Hugh also arranged an Indian meal in Congleton which I am informed that everyone who attended had a great time (as well as a late night judging by the numbers at training on Sunday morning!!!).
