Welcome to the Web Version of
Automatic Lover

My (slightly satirical) science fiction novella first went live on the web at the end of 2005. It was initially a Christmas gift to family and friends. In the spring of 2006, registration with Google made it available to a wider readership.

In the summer of 2007 I made a wave of minor revisions to the original text to bring its style more in line with that of its recently completed novel-length sequel Automatic Lover - Ten Years On, prior to seeking publication in book form of both works together. I have now given it a final polish with the help of freelance copy editor Claire Rushbrook and am proceeding to self-publish the book with Lulu.com. It should be available from Amazon and in good bookshops by the autumn, but may be available in the Lulu Marketplace sooner.

The novella will continue to be freely available on the web. You may either read it directly from your computer screen or print it out from a pdf file and read it curled up in a comfy chair. It is approximately 17,700 words in length (excluding the preface) and divided into four parts. The pdf file is 33 pages long. Please pass on the address to anybody else you think may enjoy it.

My links page, first added in January 2006, continues to expand. "Going it alone" allows me to bypass the gridlock that currently exists in the official book-publishing world, but it also makes me more reliant on you, my valued readers, to help me promote my book. Thus I am always happy to discuss the possibility of reciprocal links. If you wish to contact me about that, or about anything else, my internet service provider is ntlworld.com. Use both my forename and surname in lower case, separated by a dot. Sorry, no live email link, as I wish to avoid the SPAM this would attract.
