Who
is this lady, and who is the child? I believe the adult may be Hannah
Curtis née Stollery, who lived in Inscribed |
Benjamin
Curtis is believed to have been Master of a
3-masted private yacht owned by the Fonnereau family of Christchurch Mansion,
Ipswich. Benjamin does not appear in the censuses of 1841, 1851 and 1861. A Benjamin Curtis is recorded as crew on 2 ships in Australian waters in the mid-1850s and also as a passenger on one. If this was the Benjamin Curtis in question he may have influenced the decision of Hannah Stollery's brothers Michael and Ephraim to emigrate to Australia in the 1870s. |

This photograph is believed to have been taken in Epping, Essex, in about 1915, or possibly in Brentwood a little earlier. Can you identify the time, the place or the children? |

This young woman appears to be standing in the doorway of the cottage known as 'Windy Ridge', at Shingle Street. Do you know who she is? |
