Press reportFire in Southwark. - A few minutes before six on Saturday morning a fire broke out in a refreshment house belonging to a person of the name of Whittaker, No. 154, Tooley Street, Southwark. The flames had made such progress before the inmates of the house could be alarmed that, but for the assistance of the fire-escape, the six persons in the house must inevitably have been destroyed.

May 30th 1867 Neglect of duty in not shifting the boat when on duty on board the Lower Float and also for not answering when hailed from the shore (Boon being junior on board). Tooley Street, Samuel Helps. Fined 2/6
March 18th 1868 Fifteen minutes  over leave. Fined 1/-
June 3rd Absent from his station without leave thirty minute. Fined 3/6
  Under the influence of drink. 1st offence of this kind. Fined 10/-
Oct 12 1875 3 minutes and 10 seconds  ferrying out on the 12th inst that being 1 minute and 10 seconds in excess of the time allowed. Cautioned
June 17 1876 Forty five minutes late taking duty at the D. Float on the 17th instant. Cautioned
April 9 1881 Neglect of duty in not carrying out an order he received from the No 39
Kennington Station at 6am of the 9th instant and thereby causing a delay in getting the Engines to the Fire

This is to certify that Francis William Boon after a faithful and honourable service of 28 years and 54 days retired from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade on the 2nd day of October 1894 with the maximum pension of his rank
