Alfred John Boon (1910-1998) to whom it is dedicated He did it the hard, and expensive, way, before the internet became the main source of genealogical information The purpose of this Web Site is to make contact with anyone with knowledge of any of the families mentioned, in order to fill in the gaps in my records and in turn to help anyone else who may be researching these families. During the period covered by this History, the Boon and Strutt families were living in the Woolwich, Greenwich and Gravesend areas of London and Kent, and in Essex The Strutts married into the May family, through Emily May, who were farm workers in Hampshire and Berkshire. The Boons married into the Downes family, of Irish origin, and unfortunately research on this side has not so far been very successful. To avoid confusion, females are referred to throughout by their maiden names. For reasons of
privacy, no details of any living persons are shown. No current addresses
are given.
