From the notes of Alfred John Boon

Catherine was in charge of the kitchens in Winchester College at one time. Her cooking reflected this position. She married an Irish stonemason and lived in Vigo Road, Andover. Like most Irishmen, he was a lover of alcohol. As she was strict temperance, they were often at loggerheads. He and I got on well when I lived with them.
