IRELAND

18 – 29 June 2008

This was a family holiday with Helen and Mike as well as Keith, Kate, Alice and Daniel.  We all met up in Liverpool and took two cars over on the ferry to Dublin.  Although it is mostly freight on this route it was an enjoyable crossing and there was room for the children to run around.

Approaching Dublin, with the Wicklow Mountains in sight

We had two nights in Dublin.  Above is Trinity college.

We wandered round St Stephen’s Green

The River Liffey with Halfpenny Bridge on the right.

We spent a week in a cottage in Killorglin.  Above you can see our home for the week, Danny playing in the garden and our view towards McGillycuddy’s Reeks.

We visited Kenmare with Helen and Mike.

The views from above Killarney’s lakes were stunning.

We all went to Dingle for a day.  Alice and Daniel enjoyed playing on the model dolphin.  We did the boat trip and Keith managed to get a photo of the real Fungi the Bottle-nosed Dolphin.

With Helen and Mike, we walked round Muckross Lake on a very, wet morning.

We drove round The Ring of Kerry.  Left is near Cahersiveen and right the bridge at Portmagee.

We loved the beach at Derrynane.

The river at Sneem.  This is a charming town with lots of colourful houses.

Lough Caragh – not too far from Killorglin

These photos were taken at the Top Deck Restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent meal.
