GIRONA

15 – 22 May 2007

This was our first RA group holiday and we flew out to Girona where Sue and Ross of Costa Brava Rambles gave us a tour of the city and took us on some lovely guided walks.  We took well over 200 photos so here are just a small selection.

16 May.  Sue led a group of us on a tour of Girona.  We walked along the city walls and admired the Cathedral.

It was The Time of Flowers in Girona.  Here are just a few of the exhibits we admired.

17 May.  We walked from Solius, had a drink at a lovely old farmhouse and climbed to The Rocking Stone of Pedralta.

Here’s Ted at our picnic spot and the group at the end of the walk on the beach at Sant Feliu de Guixols.

18 May.  Most of us spent a fascinating day in Figueras, visiting The Dali Theatre Museum.

19 May.  We caught the train to Celra and with Sue leading climbed to Castell de Sant Miquel – a restored fort.

After our picnic lunch we walked on a good track all the way back to Girona, enjoying the flowers as we went.

20 May.  A group of nine of us went by train to Cerbere, in France. Ted led the walk, on a fabulous day.  We climbed high above the railway yards and past vineyards and had wonderful views all day.

The walk finished back over the Spanish border in Portbou.

21 May.  Our last walk was from Portbou along the coast to Llançá.  The wild flowers were magnificent.

At Llançá we watched the fish being landed and then auctioned.

The holiday was over all too soon.  Here we are enjoying our last Catalan evening at Bronsoms Restaurant
