This popular games night which has become a regular in the Tennis Club calendar, saw the “Wizzers”, seen below, snatch victory by one point over “The 6 Pack”, who, despite winning their last 3 games of the night, just failed to catch the eventual winners.
The surprise of the night was the poor form of the previous title holders, “The Underdogs” who could only manage 2 wins out of a possible 8 and finished 6th and last.
Another fabulous buffet was provided by Geryan which was much appreciated by all.

The Wizzers will now represent the Tennis Club on 14th March in a Social Club Games evening and pit their skills against teams from Squash, Cricket, Hockey, Social Club and The Trust. We wish them every success!
After many months of hard work ensuring all the club’s activities met the highest standards required, Yarm Tennis Club was delighted to receive CLUBMARK accreditation which was accepted by Richard Farrar on behalf of the club, from John Schofield President of Durham & Cleveland LTA. Tennis Clubmark is the LTA’s endorsement for quality in club planning, tennis programmes, policies and procedures, and club management. Well done to everyone involved particularly Richard whose many hours spent writing or re-writing club policies and procedures paid dividends in the end.

At a recent LTA awards ceremony Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the LTA announced that Anne was to receive the “LTA’s Tennis Volunteer of the Year Award for 2008”. Anne is seen here being presented with the trophy by Jo Cunliffe, the LTA North East Tennis Development Manager.

In making the award Roger Draper said " The LTA's Tennis Volunteer of the Year 2008 is Anne Clayton of Yarm Tennis Club.
Anne is someone who never stops, literally, and lives, breathes and sleeps tennis. Her enthusiasm to get everyone into the game is brilliant and Durham & Cleveland are lucky to have her up North! The ethos that she has created at Yarm Tennis Club is amazing and to have teenagers, along with members playing tennis on a Friday evening in the driving rain / sleet / snow and wind proves what a great attitude they all have!
Anne and Yarm have got nearly 200 BTM members and that has been through her and the Clubs commitment to engaging people in British Tennis….can we have another few of Anne please!"
