HISTORY

Yarm Tennis Club has been in existence since 1911 and over the years has grown in stature and reputation as one of the County's leading outdoor tennis clubs. The club is part of the Yarm Recreation Ground Trust and is situated on a site in Leven Road, Yarm which is shared by Yarm Cricket & Yarm Squash Clubs. Facilities at the club consist of 9 outdoor courts, 6 being all weather courts, with 3 acrylic courts. In October 2001 floodlights were installed on 3 courts allowing and encouraging winter play. The club has a fairly spacious clubhouse, providing changing facilities with showers, a well-equipped kitchen, and sufficient interior space to cater for social events. The object of the club is to promote and encourage the playing of tennis by providing a reasonably priced mix of social and competitive tennis for players of all ages and standards, including disability groups. The club is managed by way of a constitution with a management committee elected annually at the Annual General Meeting usually held in March. The main committee includes:

Club Captain, Assistant Secretary, & plus 10 other committee Members. The club had 8 teams competing in the Cleveland League in 2008, a ladies team in National League Div.1, Vets team in the winter league and a mixed team in Sunday morning league. Results for 2008 were:
