Pledge card for U.S. election candidates:
Israel, Iraq, Korea, Japan, Taiwan
by Charles Judson Harwood Jr.
There was no silver bullet, that could have prevented the 9/11 attacks.
Condoleezza Rice (U.S. National Security Advisor), testimony, “Ninth Public Hearing, Thursday, April 8, 2004” {copy} (9/11 Commission: National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States, April 8 2004).
I’m not disparaging new ideas.
I’m welcoming new ideas.
But, no one I know has come up with a silver bullet.

Query: “No silver bullet”?
Here’s a silver bullet.
A pledge card.
For candidates.
For Congress and for President:
Pledge
If elected, I promise, to use my best efforts, to initiate and pursue action by Congress, and the President, to accomplish the following national objectives:
Israel
1. To declare war immediately, on Israel, in the collective self-defense of the Palestinians, with these war aims:
a. To drive the Israeli armed forces, and all Israeli settlors, back within their borders.
b. To free all non-Israeli prisoners held by Israel.
c. To destroy all Israeli weapons of mass destruction and all related programs.
d. To apprehend and deliver for trial, in an international tribunal, the Israeli Deck of Cards: All Israeli government officials complicit in prima facie international crimes, including war crimes, during the past 40 years.
2. To postpone for 2 years, the effective date, of that declaration of war, to first facilitate peaceable remedies, to persuade Israeli leaders and voters, with U.N. sanctions, and switching all U.S. aid from Israel to Palestine.
3. Failing which, to attack, at the beginning of the third year, with consent of the Palestinians, but with or without U.N. Security Council consent, on the basis of collective self-defense (which requires no U.N. approval).
4. To initiate the attack with a reprisal, an eye for an eye. To do to Israel what Israel did to Gaza and Lebanon, with the aim of dissuading Israel from any such war crimes in the future. Namely: Destroy all Israeli infrastructure, all electricity plants, all highway overpasses, all bridges, an equal number of Israeli high rise dwellings (300 buildings containing 15,000 apartments), and other dwellings and shops, all trucks, small and large, an equal number of ambulances, traveling with their occupants, and sow 1 million anti-personnel land-mines throughout Israel.
5. To occupy and govern Israel, until such time as democratic forces in Israel are capable of forming a government, to govern themselves, in a lawful and peace-loving manner, and have demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the U.N. Security Council, that Israel has repudiated its past aggression, theft, abuse, and violent crimes, and has renounced such as part of its national and foreign policy, and is resolved to live within its own borders, and at peace with its neighbors.
Iraq
6. To withdraw completely from Iraq, within one year.
7. To refuse any appeal from Iraq to remain in permanent military bases there.
8. To prohibit entry into Iraq, without consent of Congress, of any member of the U.S. military, or any paramilitary force, or any private contractors with military ambitions.
9. This, without consent of Congress, expressed in a bill or resolution, dealing with no other topic.
Korea and Japan
10. To withdraw from Korea and Japan, within one year, all U.S. military forces, paramilitary forces, and private contractors with military ambitions.
11. To prohibit their return, without consent of Congress expressed in a bill or resolution, dealing with no other topic.
Taiwan
12. To renounce the intention, under all circumstances, to provide military assistance to Taiwan, of any type, without consent of the U.N. Security Council.
The Gulf
13. To withdraw from the Persian Gulf, within one year, all U.S. military forces (including the navy), paramilitary forces, and private contractors with military ambitions.
14. To prohibit their return, even for “courtesy” visits, without consent of Congress, expressed in a bill or resolution dealing with no other topic.
