4. Unarmed Combat.  This subject, termed "Unarmed Combat" could, more appropriately be called "Silent Killing" as the use of the fighting knife was included in this syllabus designed to teach students to fight and kill without the aid of firearms.  All holds,   throws, etc., were simple and easily learned, but deadly, and instruction throughout was confined to such methods.  The course was based on the principle of the students becoming efficient and confident in a few methods of unarmed combat, rather than acquiring a knowledge of many methods with less confidence in his ability in execution.
