Pride ‘O’ Scotland received it’s Warrant from Grand Lodge of Scotland in 1927. The senior founder member was Wor. Bro. Robert Bridgett (Hon Dep Grand Master) who along with a number of Brethren from other Govan Lodges launched L.O.L. 169. Wor. Bro. Robert Bridgett was related to the well known Banner painters of Belfast, and also operated a regalia shop in Glasgow
After 1927 L.O.L. 169 continued to prosper along with the other male Lodges which made up Govan District No.42.
A real upsurge in strength came in the early 70’s when Wor. Bro. John McKinnon reported that the Lodge had reached 100 members, this was due to solidarity being shown to Ulster in the early days of the Republican onslaught, causing many Protestants in and around the Govan area to join the Orange Order. At this particular time L.O.L. 169 became very close to Prospect Temperance L.O.L. 1039 No.3 District Belfast this lead to Wor. Bro. Joseph Reid L.O.L. 1039 to cement the growing friendship by painting a Bannerette with depictions of both Lodges to be carried at Parades. This Bannerette was presented at Ballahouston Park in 1972 the venue of Annual Glasgow Boyne Anniversary Parade, this Bannerette is still Paraded to this day.
Members of Bloomfield Temperance 490 first requested permission to Parade with Pride ‘O’ Scotland L.O.L. 169 at their Annual Boyne Anniversary Parade in 1993 and have continued to do so, only broken when Glasgow County Grand Lodge hold their Boyne Anniversary on Saturday 1st July a date when L.O.L. 490 join their own District Ballymacarrett No.6 on their Annual Battle of the Somme Anniversary Parade in East Belfast.
THE BRETHREN OF BLOOMFIELD TEMPERANCE L.O.L. 490 WISH THEIR FRIENDS IN L.O.L.169 EVERY SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE
