Not a pretty picture. It was originally a brown and gold sunburst, but had been sprayed yellow by the time I got it. I then improved by spraying it black with go-fast stripes. Well you do these things when you're sixteen...

Cover plate for the tremelo routing was missing and there were various badly filled deep gouges and scratches.

But the neck was still straight as a die and the action was good. Frets were shot - many worn down to the rosewood.

Electrics were a disaster, although both pickups did work. The sound was just about OK, but both pickups had faded to the point that you wouldn't know there were magnets in there.

The pickups are the Hofner 511 "toaster" variety, only produced for a very short time in the early sixties.

Tremelo arm was missing.

Headstock was in a bad way. The black capping was delaminating both from the wood and from itself. There was also a vertical split developing, plus a nasty gouge on top.

The machine heads had been changed from the original open geared brass ones.
