EXPEDITION TRAINING
Expeditions
As well as being enormously exciting, going on expeditions in the Sea Cadets is an outstanding way of developing self-reliance, confidence, teamwork, and inter-personal skills. They provide an excellent opportunity for growing leadership skills and for acquiring technical skills such as land navigation, camping and survival skills, and environmental awareness.
Expeditions with the Sea Cadets can also count towards the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or the BTEC First Diploma in Public Services. The training that we provide leads perfectly towards nationally recognised qualifications such as Walking Group Leader and Mountain Leader. All Cadets with the aptitude or interest are encouraged toward gaining the experience which will prepare them for these high-level awards.

There are often opportunities to take part in major expeditions overseas. In summer 2005 Sea Cadets are involved in a joint-service Cadet expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and a ski trek to the North Pole with the Royal Marines.
