Problems
- Port Setting Problem (Written by Andy2No from Digital Spy)
Some people report that just setting the port settings in Hyperterminal sometimes doesn't do the trick and the way round it is to set the defaults for the port in the Device Manager list. It goes like this:-
1. Open the Control Panel
e.g. Start->Settings->Control Panel
2. Start the System applet
(double click the System icon)
3(a) - Windows 2000/XP only:-
Click the Hardware tab
3(b) Click "Device Manager"
In Windows 2000/XP this is a button. In earlier windows it was a tab and may have had a slightly different name, I forget (maybe just "Devices"?)
4. Click the + next to Ports
5. You should see something like:-
Communications Port (COM1)
Communications Port (COM2)
ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
6. Double click the relevant port, e.g. COM1 (or, if you prefer, right click it and choose "Properties").
7. Click the Port Settings tab. The main settings look the same as in Hyperterminal. The only difference is the buttons at the bottom of the dialog box for options.
