About the Group
The Group has a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Sea Scout Troop all of which accept both Boys and Girls as members and cater for ages from 6 to 14. For the Scouts aged 14 to 18 the local Sea Explorers meet at our HQ . On reaching 18 Sea Scouts can join the district Network until they reach the age of 25. Founded in 1954 the Sea Scout Group are an integral part of, and governed by the rules of, The Scout Association. In addition we have been inspected by the Royal Navy and rewarded for meeting their high standards for Sea Scout Groups, by becoming one of only a 101 Royal Navy recognised groups across the United Kingdom).
Beaver Colony
Our Beaver Colony is for Boys and Girls aged 6 to 8. Beaver Scouts learn about themselves, exploring their feelings and developing good habits and personal safety. They get to know people, fin d out about the local community and the family of Souting. The Beaver Colony meets on Wednesday's between 6pm and 7pm.
Cub Pack
Our Cub Pack is for Boys and Girls aged 8 to 10 . Cubs will enjoy a great deal of fun and adventure whilst in the Pack, undertaking activities involving cooking, exploring, first aid, model making, helping others, caring for the environment, mountain and water activities. They will also have opportunities to gain awards and badges. These awards are given in recognition of the effort made by each youngster at his or her own level of development and understanding. The Cub Pack meets on Tuesday's between 6:30pm and 8:00pm
Sea Scout Troup
Our Sea Scout Troup is for young people, male and female, aged between ten and 15 (although Sea Scouts normally move on to Explorers aged 14). Each Sea Scout Troop consists of small units (Patrols) of four to six members, one of whom is the Patrol Leader who shares responsibility with the adult Leaders for maintaining standards and training the Patrol. Sea Scouts Groups are very similar to any other Scout Group, they have the same aim, but use a special emphasis on water activities and maritime training within their programme to achieve that aim. Water activities provide the adventure and excitement that youngsters are looking for and are an area where skills and age do not necessarily correlate providing an ideal opportunity for Scouts to teach each other. The Sea Scout Troop meets on Thurdsday's between 7:15pm and 9:00pm.
Sea Explorer Scouts Unit
The Sea Scout Group is linked to the St .Vincent Sea Explorer Scouts Unit within the Stafford District. As the only Sea Explorers (who specialise on water activities) in the district they are the natural route for our Sea Scouts moving on to Explorers. Meeting at our Head quarters on Monday Evening's between 7:15pm and 9:30pm. Sea Explorer Scouts are young men and women from 14 to 18 years old.
