About Sea Explorers

The Sea Scout Group is linked to the St .Vincent Sea Explorer Unit within the district. As the only Sea Explorers (who specialise on water activities) in the district they are the natural route for our Sea Scouts moving on to Explorers. Meeting at our head quarters. Explorer Sea Scouts are young men and women from 14 to 18 years old.

Mountain Biking

Sea Explorers also spend time on dry land. As part of our summer camp in the Lake District we spend a day Mountain Biking. The Explorer Unit hired bikes in Grizedale and then followed one of the Mountain Bike Trails for a half day of ups and downs off road.

Kayaking

The Explorers continue to expand their Kayaking skills moving on to 2 and 3 star skills and to moving water on local rivers like the Churnit and Severn and on white water in North Wale. Previous trips to the Dee and Trewellyn have taken Exploreres / Venture Scouts to grade II, III and IV rivers. During Summer Camp we try (water levels allowing to complete a river trip in the Lake District on rivers for example the Rothay.
