Camping

The troop organise a number of camps throughout the year which are detailed below. In addition to these we also take part in District camps and Sea Scouts can also organise Patrol Camps at local Scout Campsites.

Spring Camp

Spring Camp is held close to Easter each year at Consall Campsite near Leek in Staffordshire.

A weekend camp based on learning Traditional Scouting Skills and having plenty of fun. Activities include building and sleeping in bivi's, pioneering projects, cooking on open fires, abseiling, navigation hikes and wide games. While the program changes from year to year the table below outlines a typical program for this camp.

Summer Camp

Each Year we have a Week long camp on Windermere in the Lake District. The camp is based around Water Activities (Sailing, Rowing and Canoeing), but includes Walking, Abseiling, camping away from the main campsite and generally having fun.

At the end of the week we have a Regatta allowing the Scouts to put into practice their newly leaned Sailing, Rowing and Canoeing Skills in a fun environment. As you can see from the pictures and program below everyone is busy come back having earned a rest.

Autumn Camp

A relatively new camp for our troop which we are running in Autumn at our District Camp Site Sherrat's Wood. The weekend camp revolves around camping and cooking on open fires. A real chance for all to practice lighting and cooking on fires.

District Camp

Distirct Camp is organised by Stafford District, roughly every other year. The weekend camp takes place at the Districts Camp Site, Sherrat's Wood, and Troops from across the District join together to camp and take part in activites ranging from Football, through Chariot Racing to Bivi Building. The last camp was in June 2000 and the pictures here are from our camp archives.
