He was a Fisherman, Mariner 1881 sea sailor 1891 Shipkeeper 1896 and lived at Church Street, Deptford, 5 Hyde Street Deptford 1871 ( Elizabeth was living here with Ann Eliza Sharing the house with Charles Fraser (a Waterman) and family Georgina, Charles, and Maria. Charles presumably at sea. ), 19 Reginald Road Deptford 1881 1891, 15 Reginald Road High Street Deptford 1896, 114 High Street Deptford.

Charles was married to Elizabeth Sarah McCarthy in St Alfege Greenwich. Witnesses Frances Jane Jelliss and Fred McCarthy on the 03/05/1865 and died on the 18/04/1896 falling from the ladder of his ship the SS Racoon, into the Thames, off College View Isle of Dogs and drowned. (The Racoon was a steam ship of 479 tons working out of Deptford)

Ellen 'Nell' E. Jelliss was born in 1882 in Deptford. In 1901 aged 20 she was living with her mother Elizabeth and brothers Charles Fredrick and Alfred Daniel at 5 Albert Villas, Lambeth. She remained a spinster and for many years lived with her mother and ran a fish shop in Honour Oak Park. In 1933 she moved to 29 Gower Place Where she kept an Oil warehouse until about 1952 when she moved to Sotheby Road Highbury near Clissold Park. She died 1959 in Wood Green aged 78.

Frederick John Jelliss 1883

Alfred Daniel Jelliss was born in 1886 in Greenwich but registered as Jellise. He was married in 1909 in Lambeth to  ‘Rose’ Miriam Emma Latham who was born 1887 in Lambeth. Rose died 1962 in Brighton. They had one child: Elizabeth "Betty" Daphne Jelliss who was born 29/03/1911 and died in 1977 at 1 Tredcroft Road Hove, Sussex. Betty moved into Tredcroft road in 1954. Alfred was a Printer. In 1901 he lived at 5 Albert Villas Lambeth with his Mother in and worked as a Printers Apprentice. Later he became a Printer for Messrs. Samuels and Co. and lived at West Norwood and South Norwood. He died in 1953 aged 67 at Croydon
