Sam Squirrel's Story Page 33

Hello   -   I'm sorry but I don't have a human name - just call me Silly Bat.

Silly Bat You see, I am rather muddled. I should really be asleep in the daytime but I lost my way.

I didn't listen to what I was told about only going out at night and watching where I was going.

Of course 'watching' isn't really the right word as we bats use an echo system to work out where we are.

My parents are hot stuff at high speed flying but I haven't learnt how to do it properly yet.

Well the day I am talking about I ended up in the human's kitchen sink!      NOT the best place to be.

I couldn't work out what to do next so I just sat there and tried to look small.

Catching Silly Bat Imagine the Father human's astonishment when he found me. Neither of us knew what to do but he was very kind and tried to pick me up to take me back outside.

Well ! that was when the problems started as I panicked and went round and round the kitchen (at very high speed)

The poor human had to keep ducking as I whistled past.

Free at last Luckily for me he had a bright idea and opened the outside door for me.

After a couple more turns round the kitchen I nipped out through the door and went safely back to my home.

I hope to talk to you again when I have learnt to navigate properly.

See you again
