Hello, this is Sam squirrel to tell you another tale about hedgehogs.
When Horace fell in the stream I remembered another hedgehog from years ago.
The human Family had a very steep garden at the time, with a wall at the edge of
the grass. This is a picture of it.
One morning Mother found this hedgehog wandering about at the bottom of the wall.
The Sons were at school so she decided to keep the hedgehog for them to see later.
Hedgehogs tend to have fleas so Mother was not at all keen to bring it indoors and
went searching for something suitable out in the garden.
In the end, she found the garden incinerator and thought
"Just right, if I put this over the hedgehog there will be plenty of air.
It will keep him safe until the Family came home"
Mother went to fetch the Sons from school and was telling them all about the
hedgehog and how she had kept him for them to see.
They were very excited as they hadn't seen one close up and were looking forward to having a good look.
Well ! you can imagine the comments when they got home and found that the hedgehog had gone.
When they thought about it, they realised that the hedgehog was really quite small
inside all his prickles.
It was quite funny as there was a hedgehog at the bottom of the wall many times after that.
