Sam Squirrel's Story Page 29

Hi, this is Sam Squirrel to tell you another story about my garden.
One day, last summer, when Mother human came back from shopping, Father came out and said "Come and see this"

He took her into the back garden and said "What do you see at the end of the garden ?"


Mother looked and was astonished to see a large White Rabbit sitting on the path.

Mother said "That's a white rabbit  -  but who does it belong to ?    It's not ours.

Anyway, Mother went next door to see if they had a white rabbit.

Oh yes   they said.
"Well, it's in our garden" said Mother.

BUT
Luckily, the neighbour went to check to see if their rabbit was missing.

and it wasn't !

Meanwhile, the rabbit had gone into the garden on the other side and was eating the vegetables.

Mother and Father decided that it would be a good idea to catch the rabbit and then find out where he belonged.

They did try, but with no luck, as the rabbit hopped off under the fence into the next garden.

While they were thinking about what to do next, a man came up and asked them if they had seen a white rabbit !!!

Apparently his children had two white rabbits which had wriggled under the fence and escaped from his garden.

"Had we seen them ?"

Mother and Father told him the tale and they all went into the neighbour's garden.

Where they found two white rabbits.

The man had brought a cage with him and between them they managed to catch both of the rabbits.

It was a struggle and some of the vegetables went missing !

Mother went back to the first neighbour to tell her all about it and found that the rabbits all came from the same petshop.


Perhaps they were brothers or sisters as they all looked alike.
