Sam Squirrel's Story Page 15

Hi, this is Sam Squirrel and I am going to tell you a funny story about a trundling tortoise.

This story happened years ago, when the human Family still had their children at home.

Trundle The Family had a tortoise as a pet.

He was quite good natured and used to wander round the garden in the summer, happily eating Father human's plants.

Hanging out the clothes One day, Mother human was out in the garden, hanging out the washing on the clothes line.

She was wearing slippers with a red pom-pom on the top.

Well ! after a little while she felt this 'bump' against her foot

She looked down and, to her amazement, there was Trundle trying to eat the pom-pom on her slippers.

He must have thought that it was a particularly juicy flower.

Mother human moved away thinking that Trundle would trundle off back to the plants.

No way ! he had set his mind on the pom-pom.

And everywhere that Mother human went - the tortoise was sure to go !

Well, the human Family laughed and laughed when Mother told them the tale.

But, poor Trundle was quite disappointed as it was the best flower in the garden ( in his opinion )
