Hello, this is Sam Squirrel and this is an interesting story about a visitor to the
human Family's garden.
Mother human was looking out at the garden through the sitting room window.It all seemed unusually quiet in the garden.
Normally you can hear the birds singing and small creatures rustling about in the undergrowth.
But today there were no small creatures to be seen or heard. It was very quiet.
Suddenly there was a small sound, and when Mother human looked, there was a large bird just on the edge of the plants.
It was about 40 centimetres high with a hooked beak and grey front.
The back and wings were brown.Mother human was astonished as she had never seen a bird like that before in the garden.
The bird was startled and went off.
Mother human went off too - to get a book to identify the bird.
Luckily there was a very good picture in the book. The human Family decided that the visitor was a Sparrowhawk, probably a female as it had a brown back and was so big.
She didn't have time to get the camera to get a picture but Father human drew a sketch for you to see what the bird looked like.
