Sam Squirrel's Story Page 08

Hi, my name is Scatty and I am a friend of Sam Squirrel. He lives indoors but I am out in the human Family's back garden.

This is the start of a long battle with the humans and I will tell you more tales about it later.

You see  -  I was running out of acorns. I usually keep a stock of them, but this year most of them had gone already and we squirrels have to eat!
One day I noticed that the humans had put out a bird feeder with some peanuts in it.

Those silly humans thought they would feed just the birds and keep me away. Still, I like a challenge!

The bird feeder was made of plastic with a lid on top. The human Family had hooked it over a branch of the tree.

You can see in the picture that I am sitting and thinking what to do.

Well I thought and thought and then inspiration struck and I had a very bright idea. We squirrels are like that. Clever, I mean!

Well, I picked it up by the top handle and dropped it on the ground.
The lid came off and the peanuts fell out onto the plants.

Who is a clever squirrel then!
