A
document has just been passed to me named “Guidance
note for filling station operators on the introduction of E5 patrol and B5
diesel” which was sent to fuel retailers in the UK with regard
biofuels. Obviously, this document refers to retailers, but similar
situations will affect motorists. The note suggests that biofuels are going to be trouble and cost beyond
the obvious. They appear more susceptible to contamination and indeed
aggravate it, are likely to attack certain materials, may contain more water
which could separate out in the tank and they can increase galvanic and
electrolytic corrosion.
Could
there be some expensive repair bills on the way?
