BREAKFAST TIME WITH ALAN AND ROY
Good morning Roy
Good morning Alan
What time is it Roy?
It's exactly 7.00 am, so we can start breakfast now.
I'll put the eggs on then Roy.
Don't start cooking them until the stopwatch is ready Alan - ready, steady, go.
4 mins later
That's incredible, the eggs took 4 mins and 17 seconds to come to the boil, the second fastest time this season, and only the second time that the eggs have come to the boil so quickly since 1978.
That's interesting Roy
It could be something to do with the circumference of the egg measured lengthwise, as I have noticed an average decrease of nearly 2mm compared with eggs purchased last season.  I must contact the Association of Egg Measurement Statisticians to see if they can throw any further light on the subject.
Yawn
8 mins later
Choose some cereal Alan
Bran Flakes it is Roy
Excellent.  Did you know that each 1 kg packet of Bran Flakes contains approximately 33 x 30g servings?  Well, I've been checking this out, and already so far this packet, we've had 18 servings.  With just under half the packet to go, and an average of 227 flakes comprising a 30g serving, I've estimated how many flakes are left, and I think that it's highly possible that we may achieve 34.5 servings, the third highest since I started keeping Bran Flakes records in 1982.  Of all the cereals we have encountered, only Rice Krispies (record 36.25 servings) and Shredded Wheat Bitesize (35.75) have yielded higher servings in a 1kg packet.
Shit, I've dropped my bowl on the floor
That's the fifth time you've dropped your bowl on the floor since we had the new lino installed in 1984.  Of those 5 times, on 3 occasions the bowl has broken, but only once had you already put the milk in.  This compares with my record over the same period of dropped 4, broken 3, spilt milk 2.   The new lino has a cushioning effect, which has resulted in significantly reduced number of breakages compared with the wooden floor in place between 1972 and 1984, although during that period incidences of spilt milk were considerably lower.  However, given that we currently use semi-skimmed milk, the actual fat content of milk spilt on the two surfaces is remarkably similar.
I think that's the post Roy
Great, 6 for me and 2 for you.  Of my 6, 4 are from different statistical organisations, 1 is from a groundhopper penfriend, and 1 is junk mail.  This compares with your 2 bills.  The last time that I received 6 letters to your 2 was 67 days ago, although on that occasion all of my letters were from statistical organisations.  So far this season, I have received 547 letters compared with your 296 letters.  If this trend continues, it will be the 13th consecutive season that I have received more letters than you, a new family record, beating the run established over 12 years between 1968 and 1980.
Zzzzzzzz
