The purpose of this document is to provide assistance in the event that you are having trouble loading the driver for the Ambit stand alone cable modem (also known as the NTL home 120). This problem will sometimes happen after the modem has been detected in Windows. The operating system will ask for the drivers. But even after pointing the computer to the driver location D:\drivers\Ambit (where D is the CD drive with the NTL CD in, this may be different) the driver cannot be found.

The solution

Close down the broadjump CD and all open windows. You should now be back on the desktop. Open My Computer and select the CD drive with the NTL CD ROM in by clicking on it once. It should now be highlighted, right click on the drive and choose OPEN from the menu.

You are now in the ROOT of the CD drive. Double click on the drivers folder.

Double click on the Ambit folder.

Double click on the Uninstall folder. This will start the uninstall process.

Follow the screens to uninstall the modem driver from the system.

You do not need to remove the USB cable if you are prompted. As you are not really removing the modem it isn’t necessary.

At the end of the uninstall process you will be prompted to restart the computer. Upon restarting the computer you will notice that the modem is detected once more. In many cases the driver will be picked up automatically. If not remember to point the computer to D:\drivers\Ambit via the specify a location option (where D is the letter of the CD drive with the NTL CD in).

The driver should now be loaded
