MINI SOCCER

Under 9 Report (Steve Clark)

The sun was shining so yes, Holly Boyd struck again with 2 goals for the Lions. This was their only joy however as they struggled to get just two draws.

Ben Marlow of the Pumas showed true grit playing through several injuries to help get his team mates through a difficult morning. He was rewarded with a magnificent strike from just inside the oppositions half against the Cougars. Joe Smith managed a hat trick  and Kielan Bucknor was ferocious in the tackle.

The Cougars Joe Sutton excelled today scoring 5 and working hard when at times they were a man down. Matthew Ayres continued his regular scoring habit with 4 and Gareth Jones showed growing confidence.

The Tigers managed two wins and a draw with Ewan Neville supporting Oliver Hornsby and Reece Julien as they brushed aside the Panthers and Pumas.

The Panthers dug in to get 3 wins with Michael Smith and James Lockwood combining well up front.

It was the bright orange of the Leopards that shone brightest today as they had 5 victories, Peter Moran and Harry Robinson were all over the pitch and Conor O’Brien’s and James Clark’s passes found them with ease. 5 games, 13 scored, 2 conceded, job done.

Under 7 Report (Shaun Townend)

Lovely weather greeted the players this morning and they responded with some of the best football played all season.

The Panthers team hot shot this morning was James Wilde as he scored a massive 9 goals through out the games.  The Panthers went from strength to strength as they shot 4 goals past the Tigers team.  Wilde was in fine shooting form yet again as he netted 2 goals then up popped Alex King and Harun Townend who finished them off with further strikes to win easily.

The Cougars also had a hotshot hero!  Nikos Tokos scored 7 goals throughout the morning with scoring 3 goals against the Leopards team. After losing to the Panthers the Cougars got back into winning ways against the Lions  and the goal scoring machine was at it again as he fired home 3 goals in this game with William Robins scoring the fourth goal for the win.  A battle over the Pumas team as both teams had to settle with a 1-1 draw. Luke France fired home 2 cracking goals for Cougars for their final win of the day over the Tigers team.

Pumas won just two games this morning with Jake Morton scoring 3 goals and Daniel May and James Stott also on the scoreboard.  Tiger’s team also won two games with some fantastic saves from Nathan Watts who also scored the winner over the Leopards team. Ruben Rai also so got on the score sheet as his only winning goal over the Lions team for the Tigers win.

Under 8 Report  (Jason Barrett)

The Pumas began the morning with a convincing victory over the Lions with Luke Taylor bagging two goals and Jody Dixon the other to see the Pumas home.

The Tigers just edged out the Leopards in a thrilling encounter that ended 3-2. Thomas Thornton opened the scoring with a super left foot drive. The Leopards were back in the contest after Luke Wadsworth, who was returning to the squad after a lengthy lay off with a broken collarbone, smashed home the loose ball from a corner. Further goals from Josh Robinson and Jacob Hodgson saw the Tigers over the line.

The game of the day saw the Leopards take on the Lions and in a see saw contest that was settled with some amazing play from the Leopards enabling Thomas Thornton to bag his hatrick and give them the advantage by 5 goals to 4.

All the squad are developing a high level of skill and technique and possess the right attitude which they are demonstrating every week. This bodes really well for next season and hopefully they take this into the forthcoming summer tournaments.

Under 10 Report (Ricky Thwaites)

Another excellent morning’s football from the Under 10s who are now beginning to gel into a very good outfit and the lads can’t wait for their opening match in the RCD League in September.

The Monday night practise sessions are now showing fruition and the standard of play is very high indeed.  Players to catch the eye this Saturday were Alex Cotterill, Elliott Balmforth, Harry Freeth, Jacob Giwisser and Kieran Hoey

Nice to see Sean O’Brien getting back to his old form and the Marsh youngster looks like becoming a very good player.  A number of players are showing tremendous improvement notably Harrison Radford-Reid, Daniel Shelton and the two Brads (Werritt and West).  Long may this continue!

A full - scale practice match is planned for Saturday morning KO 10.45am.  New players are needed and will be made to feel most welcome.  Please meet on the pitch at 10.30am.
