With the Tigers reverting to something like their normal formation for the second half and a mixture of U10’s Lions and Tigers rotating, the under 11s strength and experience clearly showed as they finished strongly netting 5 goals.

For the U10’s Reece Julien stood out for his all round effort, pace and versatility (by the end of the game he had played in 3 different positions).  Kielan Bucknor and Nathan Gallagher once again showed they are going to be difficult to get past next season and Conor O’Brien showed he can play anywhere.

Next season Westend FC are planning to enter Lions and Tigers squads in the RCD 11 a side League and the first matches will be played on the second Sunday in September.  Steve Clark will be the Lion’s manager and the club are looking for a volunteer to take the Tiger's squad.

Under 5 sessions now outdoors

Manager Ricky Thwaites was full of praise for all the  Under 5s saying:” They are now starting to pass the ball to one another and there is far less standing around”.  Lewis Wintringham and Sam Finney won the days Most Improved Player awards and were each presented with a Westend woolly hat  following another very successful Saturday morning session.

The sessions take place in a very friendly ‘fun’ atmosphere with no pressure on the youngsters.  New players are always made to feel very welcome regardless of ability and places are still available in the Tots section in both the Under 5 and Under 6 age groups.

The Under 5s practise outdoors on Tuesday nights 6.00-7.00pm and Saturday mornings 9.15-10.15am.  Manager Steve Sharp takes the Under 6s outdoors on Tuesdays 6.00-7.00pm and Saturday mornings 10.30–11.30am.
