The Black Dog Inn

The Black Dog Inn is a true community style pub catering for all ages, offering the very best in service, good quality cask ales and a very warm welcome. It is the oldest pub in Oadby and although it has had a few alterations over the years, has always retained that original pub atmosphere.

With all your favourite pub games such as Pool, Darts and Skittles along with Live Entertainment and Karaoke your sure to have a good time at the Black Dog.

Norman & Maureen Green have been at the Black Dog since 2001. Previous to that they ran the Fox & Goose Pub in Droitwich, Worcestershire. They both spent nine years on the Costa Del Sol entertaining and writing for local newspapers.

Norman, also known as 'Stormin' on the Costa Del Sol, had his own slots on Central FM, an English speaking radio station in Benalmadena.

A letter from a former local

Hi,

I am sat trawling the web reliving my "former life" and, as I lived in Oadby between 1970 and 1973, my local was the Black Dog ... it was great to see your website, which is very good by the way.

I became a sports writer in later life and it was all because of the Black Dog, because it was in there in 1971 that I run my first ever pub sports quiz, and even now, after all these years, when people ask my how I got into writing, I still recall that it all really started in the Black Dog.

I used to live in Victoria Court on London Road and had a pub outside my front door, but I chose the Black Dog as my local because I was a Bank's fan. I now live in Mallorca, and have done since 1991, and to this day have never had a better pint than Banks.

Thanks for reliving some memories of three very enjoyable years in Leicester.
