Derbyshire Ladies’ County Golf Association
The first and second team squad are currently working hard on pre-season training at Morley Hayes under the leadership of County Training Officer, Rebecca Wood and this year’s County Captain, Jean Bingham.
The match v Lindrick Scratch Team took place on 15th February in spite of much of Derbyshire being under snow. Lindrick fielded a strong team, Derbyshire losing 1/2 to 31/2. The course was in very good condition given the weather conditions.
Our second match was a friendly v Cheshire played at Stockport Golf Club on 22nd March. We lost by 4 matches to 0 which although disappointing, gave excellent match practice against very tough opposition. The handicaps of the Cheshire girls ranged from +1 to 3 with the majority 1 or 2.
The annual match against Mickleover Men's Scratch Team took place on 5th April in lovely sunshine. This proved to be a very close fought battle the final result being 3-3.
Both 1st and 2nd Team players went to Glossop on 19th April to gain Foursomes practice. The format was Canadian Greensome which gave more golf than just playing a Greensome. We were made so welcome by everyone and the course was in wonderful condition thanks to the Greenkeeping staff cutting the greens on Sunday morning.
