| All My Eye - How It Happened. |

| April 9th 2001. I was driving home from work when I became aware of a flashing or flickering in the outer corner of my right eye. It was the kind of thing, where at first I thought I was seeing a reflection from my wing mirror. It looked a bit like this ... |

| That
evening, I suddenly developed a pair of very severe floaters in that
eye. Everyone suffers from floaters and I've created an impression of what
my existing floaters were like here.
The new floaters however were like grey veils, and looked like this ... (And yes they did seem to move at that sort of speed as I moved my eyes about)

| So
I looked up floaters on the internet, and found that the sudden onset of
severe floaters, especially with flashes, can be a symptom of retinal damage.
The next day I saw my doctor, and got a referal to an eye specialist.
On April 12th. I got a clean bill of health for my eye, and had to accept
that the floaters would degrade and become less intrusive with time.
This was not, however, to be the end of the story ... |
