Spiritual Healing is the channeling of healing energies through the healer to the patient. It helps relax and re-energise a patient, helping their own natural resources to deal with any illness or injury that they may be suffering from. Patients remain fully clothed throughout and are usually treated whilst sitting upright on a chair. The healer directs the energy through their hands, to supplement the depleted energy of the patient. The healer's hands can either rest lightly on the patient's body, or just as effectively, can be held approximately 2 - 3 inches away.
Patients receiving healing can experience different sensations - some may feel heat or coolness, some may feel a tingling or 'pins and needles', and some may just feel completely calm and relaxed.
Healing can be given for any illness, injury, stress or pain and is a completely natural therapy which has no side effects and is complimentary to any other treatment or therapy.
To receive spiritual healing, an individual does not need to have 'faith', but having an open mind and a degree of trust in the healer can only be helpful.
Healing is not a substitute to conventional medical treatment, but works very successfully as a complement to other forms of treatment. Healing is officially listed as a therapy recognised by the National Health Service and doctors are permitted by the General Medical Council to refer patients for spiritual healing if they wish to do so.
There is another form of healing which is called absent healing - this is healing by thought and prayer for those unable to come to a healing centre. This type of healing can work very well for patients even if they live in other parts of the world and may not even be aware that healing is being sent out to them.
It is unusual for a patient not to feel any benefit at all from spiritual healing. Usually patients will feel more calm and relaxed and on some occasions, one treatment will be sufficient, however, often several treatments will be necessary, depending on the severity of the problem the patient is experiencing.
