Our Wedding in Salzburg

Our wedding in Salzburg, Austria.

Lisa, Ellen, Marise (Lisa's mum) and Violet (Lisa's nanny), all set off to Gatwick at midnight to catch the plane which was not due to fly until 6.25 am but we wanted to make sure that we had plenty of time, The plane was on time & we arrived in Salzburg Airport at 9.00 am their time.

We went to our hotel the (Austrotel) & booked in. Then went across to the Mirabell Palace to make sure that we had all the correct documents & it was shut… So the next day we went over again & every thing was O.K.. On the way back to our hotel we stopped at the fresh flower market & brought Lisa 50 White Rose's & Ellen & mum & nanny some small posies for the wedding. That night in the hotel we had a drink courtesy of the manageress & sorted all our clothes out for the big day tomorrow. Lisa's wedding dress was handmade as was my jacket & Ellen's bridesmaid dress.

When the morning came we were both very excited & could not wait. I have to say that my wife to be looked stunning in her wedding dress. We were married in the palace by a very nice man called Ernst, we had music coming in & out played by a man on an organ. we had a video & photographs of the whole event including the marvelous Mirabell gardens (this is where part of The Sound Of Music was filmed). We walked through the streets of Salzburg & received applause & people kept stopping us & asking to take our photograph much to our delight. We then took a pony & trap ride round the city which was lovely then we all went for a lovely meal in café Glockenspiel .

In the evening my wife & I went to a Mozart concert held in the Fortress which overlooks the city it was so relaxing we both loved it. The following weekend we had a lovely reception back in Ipswich held for us where all our family & friends joined us. We had a very nice buffet & disco. Everyone got dressed up again we now had 2 Best men & 2 extra Bridesmaids, (all were cousins) & we danced all night long. we then went away by ourselves & stayed in a nice little hotel in Claydon.

We tied the knot on 18.09.1998 "AT LAST" after going out with each other since 29.07.1986.
